Peer Review Process

The Journal of Nutrition and Health Insights applies a peer-review system to assess the quality of manuscripts before publication.

Author Submit Article:
The authors submit a manuscript or scientific article for consideration by the journal (they must comply with the template and Author Guidelines).

Assessed by Editor:
The Editor will first assess whether the article meets the basic standards of the journal in terms of novelty, relevance, quality of writing, and adherence to journal guidelines. In addition, the editor ensures that it conforms to the scope and will go through a scan using anti-plagiarism programs such as Turnitin and iThenticate. This was done to guarantee that no plagiarism exceeded 25 percent. At this stage, there were two possible outcomes. Rejected: If the article is deemed unsuitable or has significant flaws, the editor may reject the article without further submission. Second, Sent to Reviewers: If the editor deems an article worthy of further review, the manuscript will be sent to expert reviewers for evaluation.

Sent to Reviewers:
The article is forwarded to several reviewers with expertise in related fields. They will assess the scientific quality, accuracy of the data, and contribution of the article to science. The Journal of Nutrition and Health Insights uses a double-blind peer review type, where the identities of the authors and reviewers are kept confidential. Peer review consists of two Expert Reviewers who are experts in their field and relevant to the article assigned for review. Expert Reviewers will be given time to review the manuscript for 4–8 weeks; if it exceeds this time, the editor will send a re-notification.

Reviews Assessed by the Editor
After the reviewers have provided their reviews and recommendations, the editor reviews the evaluation results from the reviewers. There are several possible outcomes of this stage.
  • Rejected: If the reviewers' reviews are negative and suggest that the article is not worth publishing, the editor may decide to reject the article.
  • Further Review Needed: If the reviewer's review indicates that the article has potential, but requires revision, the authors will be asked to improve their manuscript and resubmit it.
Author Submit Revision:
If the editor requests revisions, the author should make improvements to the manuscript according to the reviewers' suggestions and criticisms and then submit the revised version to the editor.

Revision Required:
After assessing the submitted revisions, the editor feels that the manuscript still requires further changes, and the author may be asked to make additional revisions. This process may be repeated until the article is deemed good enough for acceptable.

Accepted:
Once all reviews have been considered and the editor is satisfied with the revised manuscript, the article will be accepted for publication.

Production:
Once accepted, the manuscript will go through the production stage, where the article will be organized in the appropriate journal format and prepared for publication. In this case, the editor will assign the CopyEditing Team and Layout Team to carry out the manuscript production process until the proofreading stage.

Publication:
Articles that have gone through all of these stages will finally be published in the journal electronically according to the schedule or edition that has been scheduled.

This process ensures that articles published in the Nutrition and Health Insight Journal are of high scientific quality and have been rigorously reviewed by experts in their fields.
